Database of Botanical Scientific Racist, Colonialist, and Ofensive Names
This spreadsheet compiles a database of thousands of botanical scientific names that express prejudices through racist names and names honoring emperors, empresses, kings, and queens who promoted and profited from the enslavement and genocide of Indigenous and African peoples. It also includes antisemitic, anti-Romani, anti-Indigenous names, and a significant number of sexist names. The database is the result of extensive research conducted for the Botannica Tirannica project by Giselle Beiguelman (since 2022).
